These are some of the things that we have been doing in our class.

Spring Term



Autumn Term

Our topic this term is Looking After Ourselves and Others. We took some pictures of ourselves. We then looked at the work of Rene Magritte, who was a surrealist painter. He took pictures of objects and people and put then in extraordinary surroundings. In this one entitled Face in a Landscape, he took people's facial features and put them into different landscape pictures. We did the same.

As part of looking at Looking After Others, we looked at the book Dear Greenpeace. It is about a girl called Emily who finds a whale in her garden pond, and decides to write to Greenpeace about the whale. We continued the story by writing our own letters to Greenpeace, Emily and the whale called Arthur. We also found out loads of interesting facts about whales by searching on the Internet on Ask Jeeves for Kids (www.ajkids.com). We write the facts up in a whale fact book that we made. We also drew some observational drawings of whales.

In Literacy we visited Where the Wild Things Are. We made a collaborative picture of a Wild Thing. We also worked with a partner to to draw a picture of a favourite part of the Wild Thing story.
